How the Ozark Trails Council, Boy
Scouts of America is Funded
Thank you for your interest in how the Ozark
Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America funds its many programs, camps and
leader training.
There are four ways our youth programs are funded:
1) Annual Giving - Our "Friends of Scouting"
Campaign
2) Endowment - Includes wills, estate planning, the James E. West fund
3) Capital Gifts - Support our camps and Scout Service Center
4) Gift-In-Kind - Donation of items or services
Friends of Scouting
The friends of Scouting campaign enables the Ozark
Trails Council to provide programs and services to the youth of the area.
Many young people may not get the chance to have a hands-on Scouting experience
without the generosity of corporations, community members and families of
current Scouts.
Donations made during the annual campaign are used to
maintain four camps and their camp staff, provide training materials for the
volunteers throughout the Council, maintain accident insurance to protect our
Scouts and their leaders and fund other programs.
The James E. West Fellowship Award
The James E. West Fellowship Award is a national recognition for
individuals who contribute $1,000 or more in cash or securities to their local
council endowment fund. This contribution is in addition to and does not
diminish or replace the donor's annual gift to the Council's Friends of Scouting
Campaign. Organizations or individuals may contribute an award in honor of
someone. The award is presented with a certificate, a lapel pin, and a square
knot for uniform wear.
Tribute Fund
Many of our friends, in seeking a way to remember or recognize others,
desire an expression of thoughtfulness in the way of a tribute. The Ozark
Trails Council has a Scout Tribute Fund wherein you may send your
contribution in any amount to honor someone on a birthday, special occasion,
anniversary, express get well wishes, or in memory of someone deceased.
United Way
The Ozark Trails Council, Boy
Scouts of America is a participating agency in the eleven UNITED Way's throughout
the council.
Benefactor Program
Benefactors contribute between $5,000 and $99,999 to the Ozark
Trails Council Boy Scout Endowment Fund either as an outright gift now or
as a bequest in their will. Benefactors insure the continuation of quality
Scouting Forever. A certificate and statuette is presented to each donor at an
appropriate occasion.
Heritage Program
The Heritage
Society is our Council’s way of recognizing those who have made deferred gifts
to the Endowment Fund. A Heritage
Society member of the Ozark Trails Council is anyone who informs the Council in
writing that he or she has made provisions in his or her will or other estate
plan for a gift of $1,000 or more.
You may have already made provisions
for the Council in your estate plan, but have not yet informed us of your gift.
If you have made a gift and have not informed us about it we ask that you “download
the form” and return it to us so that we can recognize
you for your generosity, commitment and the example to inspire others to make a
gift.
