    National   Jamboree

TROOP 201 Scouts attending National Jamboree. 

Schedule and Updates:

Thursday July 21st - Depart @ 12:30 PM from Big K Parking Lot across from Northe Town Mall.

July 22, 23 & 24 - Washington DC. Tour US Capitol Building, Tour White House, Tour Smithsonian, Lay wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Solder.

**Update:  The Scout have been touring Washington DC.  They did go to the White house. They did not get to tour the White House. They visited "The Mall" to see Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Smithsonian.

**Saturday:  The Patrol Leader & Asst Patrol Leader & one additional Scout from each Troop got to lay the Wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

**Sunday:  They were traveling on the Subway and visiting the National Archives.  Look at the Reflection Pool & Lincoln Memorial at night.

July 25th - Arrive Fort A.P. Hill W VA. NATIONAL JAMBOREE

** Monday July 25th – Update: 

4 Scout Leaders electrocuted. No one from Troop 201 involved in accident.  Check news sources and National Jamboree site for more info as becomes available.

**Wednesday July 27th - Update:

Ø      Hot temperatures still prevalent. 

Ø      Cold front coming thru. 

Ø      Storms producing High winds 50+ Mph Wednesday Night.  Storms in area postponed President Bush visit.  Troop 1031's Super tarp was moved by winds but no damage to it and they retrieved it.  It is now back in place.

Ø      President Bush will visit Scouts Thursday. 

** Thursday July 28th – Update:

Ø      Cooler Temps in area

Ø      President Bush will visit Scouts Thursday

Ø      President viewing area about a mile from 1031 & 1032 campsites.

Aug 3rd - Leave Fort AP Hill and proceed to the New River for White Water Rafting Trip.

 Aug 4 - In Transit for Missouri / Arrive Home

Information for the Troop 201 Scouts that will attend the 2005 National Scout Jamboree in Caroline County, Virginia.

DEPARTURE

Scouts Depart for 2005 National Scout Jamboree Thursday July 21st @ 11:45 AM from North Glenstone Big K parking lot. (Intersection of Glenstone & Kearney Streets in Springfield)  They will be using Show Me Coaches for the transportation service.  

Bus will depart at 12:30PM. If you are late, it is up to you to arrange transportation as the Bus WILL NOT wait!!!!

*** Note:  Only items you will have access to while in Washington DC is your Carry On bag. 

SCOUT WEAR

They will need to wear their Class A uniforms but they can wear a Class B underneath and remove Class A while on the bus.  All Scouts must wear their Class A any time they depart the bus.

Money options for scouts attending National Jamboree. 

1)  Pre-paid Credit card
2)  Visa Travel Money - Can be monitored for your computer and you can add money as needed 
3)  AAA Travel money - basically same as Visa Travel Money

Additional Items:

Pre Paid phone card if you want to hear from your Scout.

Leave the knife at home.  Most of the areas they will be going will have metal detectors and any knifes etc will be confiscated.  

Electronic Devices will be allowed on the BUS ONLY!

You can take Snacks

If you want to take a radio to listen to the Jamboree on the Air Radio Station it must be a small battery powered radio, not a boom box.

DC Lodging:

Scouts will be staying at Catholic University for the 3 days they are in Washington DC.

White Water Rafting trip on the last day

They will run the rapids on trip 119 from ACE Adventures on the last day before returning to Ozark.  They will be rafting the lower section of the New River. It will be Class 3 & Class 4 rapids.  The rafting release form MUST be sighed by both parents before the scout will be allowed to go on the rafting trip. (Single Parents that have custody must sign and write custody under your name) See ACE Adventures web page for rafting trip details
