Troop 201 " Most Consistent"

April 5, 2004 -- Troop 201 participated in the Boy Scouts of America - Ozark Trails Council Camporee April 2nd, 3rd  & 4th near Highlandville, MO.

The scouts enjoyed a beautiful weekend and camaraderie with fellow scouts. The highlight to the weekend was the Catapult throw.

Troop 201 entered their version of a Trebuchet.

A trebuchet is a medieval siege warfare weapon used to break down the walls of castles. It was the successor of the Catapult; it could take heavier rocks and projectiles, and fling them farther, with more accuracy. It worked by dropping a great weight that was attached to the short end of a long lever-arm. The long end of the lever was thereby raised with considerable velocity, pulling a sling that contained the projectile. The sling would increase the effective length of the lever arm, adding even more speed to the final projectile before the sling released it.

Troop 201's entry was the smallest trebuchet at the camporee so it did not compete well for distance but it was the most accurate of all of the trebuchet there.

They were presented a trophy at the camporee, which consisted of one of the balls that they used for launching.  It was inscribed with "The Most Consistant".
